Recreation
Join us and experience a unique and adventurous way to explore the backcountry! Introducing ShelterCart: the first truly portable living shelter that is light enough and tough enough for anything you might encounter in the back of beyond. Using our pioneering design, rock solid engineering, and your human power, ShelterCart
will take you anywhere an empty double-track may lead.
ShelterCart combines human powered endurance with balanced, ergonomic design to create the ultimate camping experience. An incredibly durable aluminum camping platform designed for long term use gets you off the ground and out of the tent. A 500-pound cargo hauling capacity lets you bring all that extra gear you have to leave behind when stuffing your backpack, allowing you to set up base camp in style. With a design that demonstrates the true intent of simplicity, form follows function; you won’t find any unnecessary bells and whistles here, just rock solid performance and years of trouble free use. Handcart camping with ShelterCart might just be the most backcountry fun you can have on two wheels.
Bicycles and Pack Animals
At ShelterCart we’re also into cycling, so keep in touch via our blog, Twitter, or FaceBook, or give us a ring to discuss using your bicycle or animal friend to pull your ShelterCart. Soon we’ll be testing a harness designed for llamas and other four-legged pulling machines with help from a packer friend of ours in Salida. We’re also developing a bicycle attachment to tow your ShelterCart. It’s all about getting outside and enjoying yourself, and at ShelterCart we’re here to help you do that-- in whatever way you want to move down the trail.
ATV and Motorcycle Users
Do you like the idea of owning the lightest camp trailer on the market, but would rather pull it with your ATV or motorcycle? Here at ShelterCart we welcome and support all means of back-country mobility. ShelterCart designer and founder Craig Nielson grew up riding motorcycles and spends a chunk of time each year dual sporting in the wilds of Utah. So, due to the numerous inquires we have received, ShelterCart is developing a new camping platform that swaps out the carriage wheels and solid axles used for non-motorized mobility for a set of rugged aluminum trailer wheels and a rubber torsion axle. Combined with a bomber hitch, you’ll be able to tow your ShelterCart anywhere you want to go. Give us a ring or look for updates on our blog and website for when this new model will be available. Or, follow us on FaceBook and Twitter for the latest updates.
With 1.4 million miles of unpaved roads coast to coast, a world of adventure awaits.
extreme camping | backcountry trekking | weekend get-a-ways | long distance vagabonding | ATV camping | bicycle camping | pack animal camping
